Remember when Vince McMahon would yell at us during the opening Royal Rumble video to hype the event? So much yelling was done, but at the same time, it would hype me up as a young fan. Was Hulk Hogan going to win the Rumble? Who could eliminated the 460lbs Earthquake? Will Ax and Smash go at it again this year? Who will be number one? Who will be number 30?
Ahhh... those were the days.
The Royal Rumble is this Sunday. Yes, it's exciting. But not as exciting as it was 20 years ago. Back then, you got to see wrestlers vs. wrestlers that you never got to see for free on Saturday or Sunday morning. What do we get this year?
John Cena vs. Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar for the WWE Title.
Okay, that is kind of neat, but let's be honest now. Cena vs. Rollins has happened for the last 29 weeks in a row. Okay, I am being a bit overexagerating on that, but for the past few weeks in a row - whether it be a PPV, or Monday Night Raw - we've seen John Cena vs. Seth Rollins way too many times.
Adding Brock Lesnar to the mix is nice, and I think more fans are excited for the eventual Lesnar vs. Rollins fight within that match.... which probably will mean Cena wins the WWE Title in some upset; once again overcoming those odds!
The Miz & Damien Mizdow vs. The Uso's for the Tag Titles.
Why? Why not have Goldust & Stardust go for the tag belts. It's like the WWE is missing a golden opportunity here to see Miz get eliminated by someone, and watch as Mizdow eliminates himself as the proper stunt double that he is.
And the Royal Rumble match itself.
Roman Reigns... or Daniel Bryan.... ?????
That seems to be the route they are going with this. Either way, I think the fans would be happy. The casual fans love Roman Reigns and love Daniel Bryan. The Internet Wrestling Community loved Roman Reigns last year, not so much this year. Daniel Bryan though will always be a hero to the IWC crew.
So even though the 2015 Royal Rumble isn't as exciting as the 1991, or 1992 Royal Rumble matches, the hour long, 30 man Rumble will still spark a lot of interest and excitement for everyone watching it.
So let's all get ready to kick the year off with a Rumble.... kick it off with a Royal Rumble!!
P.S. I hate you Cogeco Cable. Get the WWE Network from Rogers so we can watch it Sunday night for a cheap price of $11.99, and not the $50 you want for it. That is all.
